Our Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) organization is seeking an externally focused and forward-thinking leader with a strong understanding of the local Huntsville, Alabama Defense/Aerospace community. This leader will be responsible for building relationships and providing a liaison between 4M Research and our various customers/programs.  The ideal candidate will have proven experience in identifying, qualifying, and securing new contracts across Department of Defense services and NASA.

The selected individual will be responsible for leading our Corporate activities focused on identifying, driving and capturing a pipeline of new business opportunities. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing a market strategy to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth by expanding our footprint.  You will be held accountable for the identification, qualification and capture of opportunities as well as the generation of qualified pipeline growth necessary to meet or exceed the business forecast and plan. The position is in Huntsville, Alabama, but may require travel to key target market customer locations.

Responsibilities:

In this dynamic role you will:

  • Identify and develop an Organic & Formal pipeline to include new opportunities within the 4M Portfolio
  • Analyze the strategic direction of the enterprise as it relates to site-specific initiatives and ventures
  • Have the pulse of customers and think globally in solving customer challenges
  • Be accountable for: customer and community engagements, relationships with external agencies in the area, and providing a liaison between organizations
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, Program Managers, and Technical Directors to coordinate business development strategies & activities
  • Use your established network to actively meet with potential customers, identify new business opportunities & pursuits
  • Actively contribute to a winning proposal process, interacting closely with internal proposal, technical, pricing and contracts leads
  • Develop win themes, management solutions, technical solutions, teaming, and pricing strategies
  • Lead in all areas of capture, including assessing win probability and value for opportunity targets, capture strategy and planning, building winning teams and solutions, pricing to win, and capture process schedule adherence
  • Identify new contract opportunities and corresponding capture plans that ultimately lead to the successful generation of new and profitable business for 4M
  • Develop processes for system contacts, customer follow-up's, customer screening, etc.
  • Provide weekly reporting on progress of sales leads
  • Develop and manage marketing/sales material that increases the company's brand
  • Maintain good communication with the client, supervisor, and peers within the organization to ensure feedback is communicated and appropriately acted on
  • Develop and incorporate the expansion strategy and plan for company
  • Manage company's resources and promote overall brand awareness
  • May perform other job-related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree with at least 10 years of Government related experience
  • Proven record shaping and capturing opportunities in the Full & Open market, as well as existing vehicles
  • Proficiency in MS Office and possess excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills with a diverse team and a winning track record
  • Proven track record and working knowledge of U.S. Government sales process, tech release, disclosure and acquisition/procurement policies and regulations
  • In depth understanding, experiences and contacts within the US government
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer mapping and engagement strategies for various customer sets
  • Experience developing capture plans in support of opportunity capture and business strategic objectives
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing RFPs and related documentation
  • Strong experience acting as an executive champion to drive new initiatives across the enterprise
  • A strong working knowledge of Engineering, Aerospace, and Federal marketplaces
  • Demonstrated ability to drive business sales and profit growth.

  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills
  • Ability to cultivate a network of business contacts and convert these relationships into leads and contract wins
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing RFPs and related documentation
  • Experience building opportunity pipeline, progressing opportunity capture through pipeline life cycle and developing pipeline gate reviews
  • Recent and relevant contacts

Desired Qualifications:

Strong understanding with DoD and NASA contract acquisition.

  • Expert knowledge in Huntsville markets
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance preferred or the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance is required
